Description

API 600 Rising Stem Gate Valve Technical Data Sheet

(Hard Seat / Coal Tar Epoxy Coated)

Product Name: API 600 Bolted Bonnet Rising Stem Gate Valve (OS&Y)
Model: Z41H/Y – Class 150Lb ~ 600Lb
Date: February 16, 2026

  1. Product Overview

This valve features an Outside Screw and Yoke (OS&Y) rising stem design. It is strictly designed according to API 600 (the benchmark standard for steel gate valves) and ASME B16.34 for pressure-temperature ratings. The disc and seat feature a hard-face seal (metal-to-metal ground fit), making it suitable for high-temperature, high-pressure, and erosive media. The external surface is protected by a Coal Tar Epoxy coating, providing exceptional resistance to soil corrosion and saline environments. It is particularly recommended for buried pipelines, marine terminals, and petrochemical refining projects.

  1. Material of Parts Specification

Note: The following is a typical carbon steel configuration (suitable for Coal Tar Epoxy coating). Alloy steel can be selected based on service conditions.

Part Name

Material / Grade

Material Properties & Application

Body

Carbon Steel (ASTM A216 WCB)

Good strength and weldability. Substrate for the Coal Tar Epoxy coating.

Bonnet

Carbon Steel (ASTM A216 WCB)

Same material as body to ensure galvanic compatibility.

Wedge (Gate)

Carbon Steel with Hardfacing (Stellite 6/21)

Sealing surface overlaid with hard alloy for high hardness and erosion resistance.

Seat Ring (Sealing Face)

Hardfacing (Stellite 6/21) or Integral Machined Surface

Ground metal-to-metal hard seat, achieving zero or low leakage standards.

Stem

Stainless Steel (ASTM A182 F6a / F304)

High strength and corrosion resistance. F6a typically requires chrome plating to reduce friction.

Stem Nut

Aluminum Bronze (C95400) / Ductile Iron

High strength, self-lubricating, prevents stem galling.

Packing

Flexible Graphite

High-temperature resistance, self-lubricating, reliable sealing.

Gasket

Spiral Wound Gasket (SS+Graphite) / Solid Metal Ring (RTJ)

Ensures leak-proof sealing under high temperature and pressure.

External Coating

Coal Tar Epoxy

Specifically for heavy-duty anti-corrosion. Superior water resistance, chemical resistance, and cathodic disbondment resistance. Ideal for buried or underwater pipelines.

  1. Coal Tar Epoxy Coating Specifications
  • Applicable Standard: SSPC Paint 20 / NACE No.12 / Corporate Heavy-Duty Specification
  • Coating Type: High-build Coal Tar Epoxy
  • Surface Preparation: Abrasive blast cleaning to Sa 2.5 (Near-White) , surface roughness 40-75μm
  • Coating Thickness:
    • Dry Film Thickness (DFT): ≥ 300 μm (Reinforced grade 500-800μm available upon request)
    • Typically applied as a multi-coat system (primer + intermediate + top coat)
  • Characteristics: Resistant to saltwater immersion, microbiologically influenced corrosion (MIC), cathodic disbondment, and has strong impermeability.
  1. Main Technical Characteristics
  1. Rising Stem (OS&Y) Design: The stem rises and lowers with the wedge. The valve opening position is visually indicated by the stem position relative to the yoke.
  2. API 600 Heavy-Duty Design: Conforms to API 600 requirements, including minimum wall thickness, bonnet thickness, stem diameter, and seat ring dimensions, ensuring robustness and long service life.
  3. Hard-Face Seat Design: The sealing surfaces of the wedge and seat are overlaid with hard alloy (e.g., Stellite) . This hardened surface maintains reliable sealing even in media containing solid particles.
  4. Flexible Wedge Option: For Class 300 and above, or for larger diameters, a flexible wedge design compensates for thermal distortions and prevents jamming.
  5. Coal Tar Epoxy Heavy-Duty Coating: This coating is the preferred anti-corrosion solution for buried and marine services. It effectively isolates water, oxygen, and ionic penetration.
  6. Backseat Design: Allows for repacking under pressure (online maintenance).
  1. Principal Dimensions & Connection Data (Reference for Class 150 RF)

Note: Final dimensions subject to approval drawings. Conforms to ASME B16.10.
