Technical Datasheet: 3-Piece Floating Ball Valve
Product Name: 3-Piece Floating Ball Valve
Connection: Female Threaded NPT (National Pipe Thread)
Pression nominale : 1500 PSI (WOG)
Body Construction: Bar Stock (Forged Bar)
- General Design Features
- Taper: 3-piece, split body construction. Consists of a main body and two end caps secured by bolts. This design allows for easy maintenance and inline repair without removing the valve from the pipeline.
- Material: Machined from solid steel bars (e.g., Stainless Steel or Carbon Steel). This forged/bar stock construction offers higher density and strength compared to castings.
- End Connections: Female threaded ends conforming to ASME B1.20.1 (NPT) standards.
- Ball Design: Floating ball principle. The ball is not fixed; under pressure, it floats downstream against the seat to ensure a tight seal.
- Blowout-Proof Stem: The stem is inserted from inside the body and features a blowout-proof shoulder, preventing stem ejection due to internal pressure.
- Port Type: Full Port (full bore) or Reduced Port depending on size (Full Port minimizes pressure drop and turbulence).
- Opération: Standard lever handle with locking device (material: plated carbon steel or stainless steel). Suitable for mounting extensions or actuators.

- Inspection & Testing Procedure
- Shell Test: Valve partially open. Hydrostatic test at 1.5 times the rated pressure (2250 PSI) . Check body, end cap joints, and stem area for leaks.
- Seat Test: Valve closed. Hydrostatic or pneumatic test at 1.1 times the rated pressure (1650 PSI). Check for leakage across the seat.
- Low-Pressure Seat Test: Air test at 80 PSI (approx. 0.6 MPa) to verify sealing integrity at low pressure.
- Options & Special Features
- Antistatic Device: Optional springs between ball and stem to ensure electrical continuity (per API 608).
- Fire-Safe Design: Optional design qualified to API 607 / ISO 10497.
- Actuator Mounting: Top flange designed to ISO 5211 for direct mounting of pneumatic, electric, or worm gear actuators.
- Stem Extension: Available for buried service or insulated piping.
- Cavity Pressure Relief: Optional automatic relief of excess pressure in the ball cavity.
